Elephants Of Asia Exhibit
Location: Los Angeles, California
Completion Date: September 2010
Exhibit Designer: The Portico Group
Primary Exhibit Contractor: AKG-Saifco
Primary Exhibit Fabricator: Dixon Studios, LLC
Project Details: Dixon Studios, LLC constructed 23,000 square feet of themed rockwork for the new Elephants of Asia Exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo. Working closely with Chuck Mayes of the Portico Group, our talented rockwork crew built three separate carved rock exhibit areas that included a 21’ waterfall and three themed bathing pools for the elephants. Plumbing and animal enrichment caches were artfully concealed in the rockwork. Additionally, two full size realistically carved deadfall trees were engineered and constructed as elephant enrichment structures to hide treats and toys.
